ICT as Medium for Advocacy

A). How Information Communicate and Technology (ICT) has transformed the educational methodologies when you were in grade school and now in Senior High School?

When I was in elementary school, we used traditional teaching methods, where the teacher was the focus of each lesson and learners relied up to him/her to gain information and knowledge. However, information and communication technologies have completely changed the way that education is taught. Teachers held primary responsibility for teaching. Through fulfilling your assignments, projects, and schoolwork, you can conduct research or depend upon the literature. And now that I'm in senior high school, ICT has completely changed education through using modern technology to make us less reliant on teachers and enable us to simply get answers online for all of our projects, homework, and assignments. With the introduction of technology, learning, communication, and teamwork may now occur outside of typical educational limits. The roles that educators and students play have also started to shift as a result of technology. More effective and efficient communication has been made possible for educators and students as well as between parents and school personnel. It has also made it possible for teachers to deliver more active and engaging classes that better suit the needs of their students.

B). Comparison

•Singing national anthem

Then: When we are singing our national anthem in grade school, the teachers monitor students before everyone sing to make sure that we stand straight and we always do the arms forward to make sure that we lign up properly.

NowWhen singing national anthem most of the students are not singing, always making unnecessary move, not lining up properly, and the others will enter the school late.

•Concept notes

Then: In elementary school, we take concept notes and write down them in our notebook and paper. We usually write down project instructions and outline assignment from our teachers as soon as they are given to us so that we don't make mistakes when we create the assignment afterwards. In order for us to learn more about the chosen topic, the teachers have allowed us to check out their books.

Now: Doing concept notes in Senior High School is a lot simpler than befors because we have our cellphones to capture lessons, we can also screenshot the topics. You can easily obtain the information required on the lesson by conducting an online search.

•Presentation of visual aids

Then: In elementary school, the traditional way of presenting visual aids includes the usage of Manila paper and Pentel pen. Sometimes before teaching the topic to the class, the teacher will write the lesson on the chalkboard, or we will copy what the teacher wrote before discussing it.

Now: The teachers always using PowerPoint presentation to the class when discussing and sometimes we are allowed to use our cellphones to capture the lesson on the screen.

•Class record

Then: The teacher will write our score or attendance on their class record notebook manually and they total it also manually

Now: In senior high school the teachers are using excel to calculate our total score and to record our attendance, its more easier for the teachers nowadays than before because in just one click they can total our score.

•Class dismissal

Then: When we are in elementary grade we will just wait for the bell to rang because it means that the class is dismissed, after the bell rang we are going to pray before leaving the room.

Now: In senior high school the teacher will say if our class is dismissed or we are just gonna look to the time and if we know that its already time were gonna said it to the teacher.

•Assigment and research

Then: When we are in grade school and we have an assignment or research we are going to find the answer on the book that the school gave to us.

Now: In senior high school if we have assignment or research we can simply search it on the internet using our phone or gadgets and we can get answers without consuming a lot of time.
